Poor Bruce Schneier

I enjoy watching “24“, but as I said before when they start blathering about technology it really, really irritates me.
Can’t they make a fun show that it is also believable?

I was watching season 7 together with my girlfriend last night, and I had the uncomfortable experience to see Morris the IT analyst cracking Blowfish 148 after saying that the algorithm creator left a backdoor in the code (LOL), and he was able to use it to decrypt the data in less than 30 seconds. (double LOL).

Mr. Schneier, I feel really sorry for you.

CSI New York and Visual Basic GUI Interfaces

If you are not into computer / programming, this is not going to make much sense for you. For all the others … enjoy this masterpiece of technical dialogue straight from the CSI New York TV series:

YouTube Preview Image

“I’ll create a GUI interface using VISUAL BASIC, I’ll see if I can track an IP address.”

12 hours later …
“Sorry sir, I could not track the IP address but I managed to drag two checkboxes, five labels and three buttons over this frame window, and one of them even creates a “hello world” popup when you click on it!”

F*** Y**, repubblica.it

I have been waiting for the latest Harry Potter novel for over a year now, I dont consider myself a huge “fan” but I do enjoy reading the books, and last night (the release day of the seventh and last episode) I find a HUGE spoiler on the repubblica.it homepage telling exactly how the story ends. If I could spit on the author of that article, I would.
They removed it now, after probably 2 million emails from angered fans, but I took a screenshot to show everyone how LOW people can get. Click here to see it.

*update*: I am glad to see they are receiving loads of negative feedback from the italian Blog community, both from Harry Potter fans and casual readers. Check it out here.

Two Jacks are better than one

It’s been a while since I have updated the site, but hey, no good news is good news right?
I was quite happy yesterday because I figured out that together with Lost, Season 6 of “24″ started as well.
Guess I’ll be addicted to the TV watching my two heroes Jack Shephard and Jack Bauer for a while.

It ain’t over ’til it’s over.

When a few months ago I heard about Sylvester Stallone releasing yet another Rocky movie the first thing that came into my mind was: “Oh please, not again. Give us a break.”

Well, I had the privilege of watching Rocky Balboa last night and like many other people I was left shocked.
It doesn’t happen too often to go see a movie having no expectations (well, actually expecting something really crap), and then while the story unfolds you realize you are actually watching a masterpiece.
Congratulations to Sly for closing the Rocky saga in the best way possible.

On a different subject, after the good movie I pointed my Quicktime to the Macworld keynote that took place in San Francisco to discover what my hero Steve Jobs has been secretly working on for the last two and a half years.
I honestly still have to collect my jaw from the bedroom floor, but you can check it out for yourself here.
