Gabriella Carlucci, the Internet Sheriff
I have to stop reading italian news.
I really, really should.
One day you see a showgirl flashing her tits on national television, next week she is in the government. Amazing stuff.
Anyway, this time who is talking out of her arse is noone else than miss Gabriella Carlucci, ex-actress, ex-showgirl, and unfortunately current member of the italian parliament with the “Popolo della Liberta’” party, led by our favourite clown, mr. Silvio Berlusconi.
But lets get straight to the point, what miss Carlucci is asking this time, is to make ILLEGAL for people to post stuff on the Internet anonymously.
Yeah, you heard it right.
Basically, according to her, this will make pedophiles and other criminals stop lurking the net, and will also make it easier to fight internet piracy.
I wont go into the details about her proposal (which seems written for a Monty Python sketch) but I will make a couple of remarks:
First: Gabriella, you are an ignorant person. Before talking bull crap on topics you know NOTHING about, go study. Read some books. Get an IT certification, and then maybe you will realise that it is already possible to track EVERYONE on the Internet in case they commit any kind of crime.
What you are asking is to remove any barrier of privacy, and that, for your information, would make the lives of potential pedophiles and criminals MUCH easier.
“Oh, mr. Mario Rossi is writing on Twitter from abroad, that means he is not home and I can rob his apartment.” Get the message?
Second: the mere thought of you being part of the Italian government makes me puke. You are the reason why people like me left Italy and went to live abroad. Be ashamed of yourself.

Vergognatevi.
“We did not know that child abuse was a crime” says archbishop Weakland
When I read this kind of stuff I really have an inner instinct for getting a baseball bat and bring some justice into this sick world.
The dickead on the left is mr Rembert G Weakland, ex archibishop and ex (I hope) child abuser, which we can all remember for saying such glorious quotes:
We all considered sexual abuse of minors as a moral evil, but had no understanding of its criminal nature.
Right. Well, yes, mr Weakland, raping little kids is a criminal offense. Who would have ever imagined?
Oh and wait, he also adds that he:
Accepted naively the common view that it was not necessary to worry about the effects on the youngsters: either they would not remember or they would ‘grow out of it’.
So it is ok because they would NOT REMEMBER? GROW OUT OF IT?
I mean, how can this person still be alive?
Is there any justice left in this world?
Farewell, GeoCities

The above image may not mean anything to many people, but for some of us, knowing that GeoCities will be closed down by the end of the year brings a tear to the eye.
I remember discovering GeoCities in 1996, while searching on Altavista (no Google yet!) for a free place to host internet webpages.
I had my “site” up later that night, a huge “Work in Progress” animated gif on a blank background, with “Fulvio’s Website” written on top of it.
I don’t even remember what happened to that page, maybe it is still there somewhere, saved on some dusty hard drive on their storage servers. Who knows.
Farewell, GeoCities, you will be missed.
Where’s my money?
“…and clean yourself up!”
